Anfaco has received "very positively" the green light from the Council of Ministers to the Royal Decree that sets the criteria to promote "a healthy and sustainable diet" in centers under public ownership and in private facilities intended for dependent people or those with special needs, by "explicitly incorporating the demands put forward by the organization to reinforce the presence of fish and seafood products on menus".

The employers' association highlights that this achievement is the result of the work carried out by Anfaco over the past two years, a period in which it has defended before the administrations "the need to properly recognize the nutritional value of fish and shellfish and to guarantee their presence in the policies promoting a healthy diet".

The new regulatory framework approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers explicitly includes the inclusion of white fish, blue fish, and shellfish in menus, as well as minimum weekly consumption frequencies, in line with the proposals that the organization has been putting forward over the past two years.

From Anfaco-Cytma, this step forward "should set a precedent for reviewing the regulations for school cafeterias and ensuring an adequate presence of seafood products at all stages of life" is understood.
