The Minister of Environment and Tourism of the Government of Aragon, Luis Biendicho, has joined this Monday the majority position of the autonomous communities in the Sectoral Conference of Environment, demanding control measures on wolves due to the damage they cause to the livestock sector.

In his statements to the media, Biendicho indicated that the majority of the regional governments have supported the report prepared by the State Commission of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity on this issue, emphasizing that "the wolf maintains a favorable conservation status in Spain", which "under current regulations allows its control where it causes damage to livestock".

"Aragon has voted in favor because we defend legality, technical rigor, and decisions based on data and not on mere ideology," the minister remarked, criticizing that the Ministry for Ecological Transition "has once again turned its back on the reality experienced by many territories and many of our livestock farmers" since "the protection of biodiversity must be compatible with the protection of livestock farming and with the defense of rural areas," Luis Biendicho concluded.
