The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food of the Government of Aragón has opened a call for aid totaling 18,985,427.08 euros aimed at supporting investments in the agri-food industries in transformation, marketing, and development of agricultural products.
This line of subsidies, published this Wednesday in the Official Bulletin of Aragón (BOA), is part of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC) corresponding to the period 2023-2027.
With this aid, the aim is to increase the added value of agricultural and food products, strengthen the competitiveness of agri-food industries, and promote the economic growth of the sector.
In the same way, the call seeks to enhance quality food and support companies in processes of innovation, internationalization, digitalization, and improvement of sustainability.
The planned financial allocation amounts to 19 million euros, financed 43% by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (FEADER) and 57% by the Autonomous Community of Aragón and the General State Administration.
The deadline for submitting applications will begin this Thursday, August 27, and will extend until November 27, 2026. The management of the files must be carried out exclusively electronically through the electronic headquarters of the Government of Aragón.
Support for the agri-food industry of Aragón
The call corresponding to the year 2027 is aimed at supporting investments aimed at improving the performance and economic development of the agri-food industries of Aragón. In particular, the aid aims to increase the use of agricultural raw materials in production processes and optimize both their transformation and marketing, in order to generate greater added value in the community.
The agri-food industry is considered a strategic sector for Aragón due to its capacity to create jobs and wealth, unify the territory, and transform raw materials at origin. In this context, the aid aims to consolidate the position of companies in the sector and strengthen their ability to compete and access new markets.
Individuals and legal entities, as well as groups holding agro-food industries based in Aragón that carry out activities of transformation, marketing, or development of agricultural or food products, may apply for these grants, provided they meet the conditions set forth in the order.
Among the subsidizable actions are the material and immaterial investments made by industries to transform, market, or develop agricultural products. Projects linked to the European Green Deal, innovation, sustainability, digital transformation, and the opening of new markets are also contemplated.
The call also covers initiatives related to the implementation of quality systems and the incorporation of solutions that improve the efficiency and sustainability of production processes. Likewise, projects for processing agricultural biomass for energy generation and actions to introduce alternative energies in agro-food industries may also be supported.
Machinery, installations, and digitalization
Among the expenses that may be subsidized are the construction, acquisition, or improvement of real estate directly linked to the purpose of the aid. The financing of the purchase of new machinery and first-hand equipment necessary to carry out the investments is also contemplated.
The support line also includes projects related to innovation and environmental sustainability, as well as industry 4.0 initiatives, sales, and digital transformation. With this, the regional government aims to facilitate the modernization of companies' facilities and processes and strengthen their capacity to adapt to the new market demands.
The call is configured as a tool to accompany the investments of the Aragonese agro-food industries and promote the modernization of the sector, while also seeking to consolidate a more competitive value chain with greater capacity to transform agricultural raw materials and generate added value in the territory.
Through this line of aid, the Government of Aragón will channel European, state, and regional funds towards investment projects of the agro-food companies in the Community, with the aim of strengthening their competitiveness and advancing in the transformation, marketing, and development of agricultural and food products.
