The Minister of Agriculture, Water, Livestock, and Fishing, Miguel Barrachina, has emphasized the relevance of the allocation of 35.3 million euros intended to support the hiring of agricultural insurance in the Valencian Community, a line of aid that will reach about 21,000 farmers and ranchers. According to the Generalitat in a statement, this financial allocation "reaffirms the commitment of the Consell to the protection and future of the primary sector."

Barrachina has stressed that agricultural insurance "is an essential tool to guarantee the viability and competitiveness of our farms, especially in a context marked by the increasing incidence of adverse weather phenomena, pests, and other risks that directly affect the profitability of farmers and ranchers."

In this regard, he has highlighted that the Generalitat maintains a firm commitment to strengthening the agricultural insurance system, understanding it as "one of the best risk management instruments available to the sector." "We want our professionals to be able to carry out their activities with greater guarantees, reducing uncertainty and protecting their farms against situations that are beyond their control," he stated.

The minister has emphasized that "supporting the hiring of agricultural insurance --he asserted-- is investing in the economic stability of our farms, in maintaining employment in rural areas, and in the capacity of our agri-food sector to remain competitive."

He also recalled that Valencian agriculture and livestock face increasing challenges, with increasingly frequent episodes of drought, hail, frost, flooding, or extreme temperatures threatening crops and farms. "In the face of this reality, administrations must offer effective responses, and agricultural insurance constitutes a fundamental piece to guarantee the continuity of agricultural activity," he indicated.

In this context, he reiterated the commitment of the Consell to the primary sector and assured that the Generalitat "will promote policies that contribute to improving the profitability, resilience, and competitiveness of Valencian agriculture and livestock."

Finally, Barrachina has highlighted the daily work of the Valencian countryside by emphasizing that "our farmers and ranchers perform an essential job to guarantee the supply of food, conserve the territory, and generate wealth and employment. From the Generalitat, we will continue to stand by their side, supporting them with useful and effective measures that allow them to face the future with greater security and confidence."
