The Ministry of Agriculture of the Generalitat of Catalonia has reported the appearance of 3 new cases of African swine fever (ASF) in wild boars, all located within the area considered high-risk: Cerdanyola del Vallès, Barcelona, and El Papiol (Barcelona).
Throughout this week, 431 samples have been processed, of which 428 have tested negative, while the positive ones represent 0.8% of the total, as detailed by the department in a statement released this Thursday.
Since the first outbreak was identified at the end of November, 8,324 wild boars have been examined, with 358 confirmed positives, and a high-risk zone has been established covering 19 municipalities, where 47 traps, 94 "pig brigs" or collective traps, and 350 perimeter closures have been installed.
