Joves Agricultors i Ramaders de Catalunya (JARC) has denounced that the aid package promised by the Government of Spain to support the agricultural sector in the face of rising costs caused by the war in Iran has still not materialized two months after its announcement, as reported this Friday in a statement after the assembly of the Coordinator of Organizations of Farmers and Ranchers (COAG), held in Madrid.
The organization has pointed out that, as of today, the committed aid has not been paid, the financing lines have not been launched, and agricultural holdings have not received any effective support.
"The countryside cannot live on announcements or empty headlines. What we need are real and immediate measures, not promises that never arrive," the entity stressed.
According to figures released by JARC, the conflict that began three months ago has caused a sharp increase in production costs, with increases of up to 50% in agricultural fuel, 40% in fertilizers, and 30% in plant protection products.
Faced with this scenario, the organization has called for the urgent payment of aid, the launch of the announced credit lines, and the adoption of "real" measures to offset the increase in costs, as well as actions to ensure the continuity and viability of the agricultural sector.
