The general director of Fisheries Development, Ángeles V. Suárez, highlighted the contributions that the Ministry of the Sea directs to the Participatory Local Development Strategies (EDLP) and the effect that this tool has as a driver to activate the communities of the Galician coast, promote new initiatives linked to the sea, and facilitate the attraction of investment in the different coastal territories.

She emphasized this during a visit to the Portonovo Nautical Club, where she was able to learn firsthand about several projects promoted by this entity under the support of these aids from the Galician Government.

The head of the regional department stressed the correct execution of this program, which is channeled through the eight Local Action Groups of the Fisheries Sector (GALP) of Galicia and which has the co-financing of the Xunta de Galicia and the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (FEMPA).

In this regard, she recalled that the calls for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025 made it possible to launch 339 projects, supported by public aid close to 25 million euros, to which more than 21 million in private investment were added. In total, these interventions allowed mobilizing nearly 46 million euros in the coastal areas of Galicia.
