The Minister of Rural Affairs, María José Gómez, highlighted the diversity that characterizes the dairy sector in Galicia and reiterated the support of the regional government for innovation in this field, with special attention to the creation of added value.
According to the Galician Executive in a press release, Gómez traveled this Saturday to the facilities of the company Lacto Baltar, located in the Lucense municipality of Chantada, which she defined as a true "example of versatility."
During the visit to the plant, the head of Rural Affairs emphasized the "importance of betting on the transformation of the raw material" produced in Galicia, with the aim of keeping the added value within the territory.
She also stressed that the Community is "pioneering" in this area, transforming more than 75% of the milk produced in Galicia. A level that, she assured, has been achieved thanks to the push from the Xunta through the Dairy Sector Dynamization Strategy (2020-2025) and the work of industries like Lacto Baltar.
María José Gómez also highlighted that this company is the only one of its kind in the community that has the certification from the Consello Regulador da Agricultura Ecolóxica and the Food Craftsmanship label, which reinforces the generation of added value and the differentiation of its product in the market.
Finally, the minister emphasized the contribution and effort of companies like Lacto Baltar, which help keep Galicia as a reference region and leader in the dairy sector.
