The Minister of Rural Affairs, María José Gómez, has highlighted the innovative character of the Galician meat sector, emphasizing its ability to adapt to the new demands of consumers and market trends.

These statements were made during a visit to the facilities of the Technological Center of Meat (CTC), where she was able to learn firsthand about the progress of various research and development projects promoted by the Ministry itself. During this tour, she was accompanied by the director of the Galician Agency for Food Quality, Martín Alemparte, and by the territorial delegate of the Xunta in Ourense, Manuel Pardo.

The person in charge of Rural Affairs has emphasized the relevance of the Galician beef meat sector within the overall agro-food industry of the community, "with a turnover of over 1.4 billion euros annually and a production of about 94,000 tons."

Regarding the actions developed by the CTC, she details that they focus on two projects aimed at the production of fourth-range meat products —raw meats vacuum-packed or in controlled atmospheres, ready to cook— and fifth-range —meats already prepared for consumption— from cuts of Ternera Gallega Suprema sourced from organic production.
