The plenary session of the Parliament has given the green light this Wednesday to an initiative that urges the Government to facilitate the integration of city councils and other local entities, along with universities and research centers, into the shareholding of the public renewable energy company l'Energètica, with the aim of enabling them to use it as their own means.

This agreement is part of a motion by the CUP on energy transition that has received the support of all parliamentary groups, with the exception of PP and Vox, which have voted against it.

In relation to l'Energètica, the approved motion includes other points that demand measures for the public company to have access to public financing and credit, including that of the Institut Català de Finances (ICF), and that it promote energy storage, battery farms, and reversible hydroelectric power plants.

Conditions on PLATER and new locations for renewables

Regarding the Territorial Sector Plan for the Implementation of Renewable Energies (PLATER), although the section calling for its withdrawal and a new wording has been rejected, the point that requires the incorporation of studies from the regional offices on suitable areas for the deployment of renewables and the prioritization of "artificialized spaces" for their implementation has prospered.

Likewise, the Parliament proposes that, while the PLATER is not definitively approved, the granting of licenses for projects in municipalities that have submitted allegations or appeals against the renewable energy implementation plan be suspended.

The text also calls for prioritizing the installation of renewable energies in old toll booths, vacant lots in industrial estates, airport areas, and landfills, in addition to promoting agrivoltaics and photovoltaics in reservoirs and artificial canals, as well as on rooftops and other urban spaces.
