The Deputy Mayor of Alicante and councilor responsible for Legal Services, Manuel Villar, of the PP, has stated that the City Council has already made available to the court investigating the awarding of public housing (VPP) in the Les Naus residential area, in Playa de San Juan, the new documentation that had been requested by the magistrate overseeing the proceedings.
Villar made these statements this Tuesday at the press conference following the local government board meeting. His words come after the judge ordered the National Police last Friday to go to the municipal offices to demand the urgent sending of various documentation from the legal services that had not yet been submitted.
In a ruling, the magistrate explained that there was no record of the council's response to two previous requests, made on May 12 and 21, in which the submission of these documents was requested, and warned that "in case of further non-compliance, the person responsible for such legal services would incur a crime of disobedience" provided for in Article 556 of the Penal Code.
According to the Deputy Mayor, on Friday afternoon, after the judicial resolution was disseminated in the media, he "automatically" gave "instructions" to the Legal Services to contact the court and send "everything" that had been requested.
In this way, he detailed that on Monday "this matter was being reviewed" and that on Tuesday morning, "in person," the head of Legal Services traveled to the judicial headquarters with a USB drive containing "the documentation that the magistrate requested."
Villar stressed that "we understand that we were still within the deadline, we are not going to argue about that, as the judge has requested it and we will do it, and the documentation was provided," to then emphasize that a large part of those files were not part of the "already submitted" files.
"Emails that are not" in the administrative file
In this regard, he specified that it is documentation that could be related to the case and that would have been "requested by some accusers or some defenses," and therefore did not appear in the "pure and simple administrative file." Among that material, he pointed out, would be included "certain emails that are not within the file."
The deputy mayor concluded by insisting that "our collaboration is total and we do not want there to be any kind of doubts regarding our collaboration with justice," making clear the commitment of the Legal Advisory area to comply with the court's requirements.
