The National Police accessed a safe located in the office of former President of the Government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero during the search ordered by the National Court within the framework of the "Plus Ultra case", an action in which his personal secretary, Gertrudis Alcázar, was present.
As reported by "El Confidencial" and confirmed to Europa Press by sources familiar with the proceedings, the opening of said safe located in the office on Ferraz street in Madrid was initially delayed, although the key was eventually handed over to agents of the Economic and Fiscal Crimes Unit (UDEF).
UDEF officers traveled to that office, located opposite the federal headquarters of the PSOE in Ferraz 70, accompanied by members of the Operational Group of Technical Interventions (GOIT), a unit specialized in logistical support for opening safes and accessing hidden compartments.
National Court judge José Luis Calama had ordered four searches last Tuesday and tasked UDEF agents with seizing the storage devices of Gertrudis Alcázar, personal secretary of the former socialist executive leader, who is under investigation for an alleged influence peddling scheme and other related offenses.
From the search carried out in Zapatero's office, located opposite the federal headquarters of the PSOE on Ferraz street, investigators left with several sealed boxes after finding technological devices and various documents, including diaries, which must now be examined by those responsible for the investigation, according to the same sources.
