The footballer Ferran Torres, the 'hero' of the World Cup final thanks to the goal that gave Spain victory and its second title as world champion, will take on the role of image and ambassador of the Comunitat Valenciana.
The Generalitat Valenciana has announced that this coming Friday the 'president', Juanfran Pérez Llorca, and the player will sign a collaboration protocol to formalize this appointment.
According to details from the Presidency, the 'president' of the Generalitat will receive Ferran Torres at 12:00 hours in the Palau de la Generalitat, "world champion with the Spanish national football team and one of the Valencian athletes with the greatest recognition and international projection."
During this official meeting, both parties will sign a collaboration protocol through which the forward from Foios will become the image and ambassador of the Comunitat Valenciana.
The agreement aims to "project and promote the image of the Comunitat Valenciana at the national and international level, through the joint development of institutional promotion actions, dissemination of the Comunitat Valenciana, and highlighting its cultural, sports, social, and territorial attractions."
From the regional administration, they emphasize that the player "represents the sports talent of the Comunitat Valenciana and has a wide international projection thanks to his professional career and his presence both in the Spanish national team and in elite football."
Values and roots of Ferran Torres
Furthermore, they highlight that Ferran Torres "embodies the triumph of constant work, effort, humility, resilience, and a deep pride in his roots, values that make sport one of the great hallmarks of identity of the Comunitat Valenciana and contribute to projecting a dynamic, open, and hospitable territory," they add.
Ferran was born in the Valencian town of Foios, which is preparing to pay him a live tribute. The municipality already displays a large banner on the facade of the town hall with the message "How great it is to be from Foios. Thank you, Ferran!".
