The government pact signed in Castilla y León between PP and Vox includes a reduction in public aid directed at unions, business organizations, and private entities that do not have accredited public utility. This measure will begin to be applied from the first budget of the new legislature, planned for 2027, as stated this Wednesday by the president of the PP and candidate for investiture, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco.
Specifically, point 16.14 of the agreement establishes a 50 percent reduction in all subsidies granted to unions, employers' associations, and private entities "that do not objectively prove effective public utility."
According to the document, the purpose of this initiative is to ensure that public funds are allocated "exclusively" to meet the needs of the citizens of Castilla y León.
Both parties have detailed that the money saved with this cut will be entirely directed to reinforce and improve the public services of the Community, "with the aim of guaranteeing agile and quality care for the people of Castilla y León."
In this same vein, the agreement signed by PP and Vox commits the Junta to continuously and exhaustively review the use of public resources, through periodic audits aimed at "identifying and eliminating any expenditure that is unproductive, unnecessary, or lacks justification." The signatory parties emphasize that this strategy seeks at all times to ensure "efficient, responsible management aligned with the general interest of the people of Castilla y León."
Another point of the pact contemplates freezing funds for international development cooperation "to the minimum essential," allocating "the minimum essential" to comply with the competencies and obligations set by current regulations. Furthermore, it is specified that care will be taken to ensure that every public euro invested outside of Spain is applied directly to the specific objective for which it is assigned.
Finally, the agreement advocates for requiring the accreditation of the real utility of public aid received. In this way, access to new subsidies will be subject to prior justification of the use and destination of previously received aid, as well as to the demonstration of its effectiveness, "guaranteeing in all cases the transparency and adequate application of public resources."
