The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could considerably change the design of its rear cameras. New leaked renders show the future flagship of the South Korean company with a large elevated platform that extends horizontally across much of the upper area of the device, a solution very different from that used in the current generation.
The images have been circulated in recent days by leakers such as Sonny Dickson and Ice Universe. Android Authority reported on August 24 the renders published by Dickson, while new details from Ice Universe have appeared this Tuesday. The different images agree in showing a Galaxy S27 Ultra with a deeply redesigned rear camera module.
However, it is advisable to remain cautious: Samsung has not presented the Galaxy S27 Ultra nor has it confirmed that this is its final design. The only official reference currently available is the Galaxy S26 generation, so the images of the S27 Ultra should be treated as a leak prior to the launch.
This would be the new camera design of the Galaxy S27 Ultra
The main novelty of the renders appears immediately upon observing the back. Samsung would abandon the current layout to incorporate a large elevated rectangular platform that horizontally crosses the upper area of the phone.
Within it appear different elements of the photographic system. The renders circulated by Sonny Dickson show large cameras at one end and another elongated module, while the platform clearly stands out from the rest of the casing.
The result represents an aesthetic break from the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung officially describes the design of the latter as "Ambient Island," with a module integrated into the casing. The renders of the supposed S27 Ultra would take that idea much further and turn the photographic area into the dominant visual element of the entire back.
A design that resembles the iPhone
One of the aspects that has drawn the most attention after the images were revealed is their conceptual similarity to the solutions recently used by Apple. Android Authority believes that the platform shown in the renders may remind one of that used in the latest iPhone Pro.
This does not mean, however, that Samsung has confirmed that it will adopt that design nor that Apple is the only manufacturer that has used large horizontal modules. Different Android brands have previously employed bars or camera platforms that occupy a good part of the width of their devices.
LOS40 also reports this Tuesday on the possible change and notes that the leak disseminated by Ice Universe points precisely towards a horizontal structure for the photographic system of the next Ultra.
The renders also point to the arrival of Qi2
The images disseminated by Sonny Dickson contain another interesting element. On the back, a circle around the central area of the device is represented, a sign that could indicate the integration of magnets for accessories and wireless charging via Qi2.
Android Authority interprets precisely that element as a possible hint that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will incorporate integrated magnets for Qi2 charging and magnetic accessories. For now, it is only an interpretation of the renders and not a feature officially announced by Samsung.
If confirmed, it would represent a significant novelty for the Ultra range, especially for those who use chargers and other magnetic accessories. We will have to wait for official information to know how Samsung would implement this technology.
The S Pen would remain in the same place
Not everything would change in the Galaxy S27 Ultra. New images published by Ice Universe suggest that Samsung would maintain some of the characteristic elements of the current generation.
The S Pen would continue to be housed in the lower left and the speaker would also retain its position. According to the leaker, the S27 Ultra would have practically the same dimensions and screen size as the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
This would make the camera system the main visible aesthetic transformation between both generations. The body and the general distribution of some of its external components would remain much closer to the current model.
The doubts about the two sizes shown in the renders
Sonny Dickson has also published images in which two devices of different sizes appear with a practically identical design. Initially, the leaker presented them as two possible sizes of the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
However, this point is far from being clarified. Subsequent information suggests that the smaller device could actually correspond to another member of the future Galaxy S27 family, possibly a Galaxy S27 Pro, and not to a second version of the Ultra.
For this reason, it cannot yet be stated that Samsung plans to market two sizes of the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The renders allow us to verify that there are designs of different dimensions, but the commercial identity of each one remains a subject of speculation.
Samsung has not yet confirmed the Galaxy S27 Ultra
The number of matching leaks allows for a first idea of the direction Samsung could be taking, but none of these elements equate to an official presentation.
Samsung is currently marketing the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which features a 6.9-inch screen, integrated S Pen, and an official thickness of 7.9 millimeters. The company has not yet shown the Galaxy S27 Ultra among its official devices nor has it publicly detailed its features.
The launch of the next generation is expected for 2027 following the usual schedule of the Galaxy S family. Until then, both the new camera module and the possible Qi2 magnetic integration and the rest of the known features must continue to be treated as unconfirmed leaks by Samsung.
