The counselor of Interior and Public Security of Catalonia, Núria Parlon, has assessed the intervention of the National Police against a Barça supporter in Elche who was carrying an estelada and has demanded that the facts be clarified: "Exhibiting an estelada at no time is a reason to act, from my point of view and from my criteria, in such a violent and disproportionate manner."
Parlon made these statements after a press conference this Wednesday at the department's headquarters, when asked by journalists about the investigation opened by the Ministry of the Interior, to which she pointed out that one must trust that procedure: "The images we have seen do not please us, they are reprehensible and we believe that the police must always act with proportionality." Furthermore, she emphasized that the security forces have the function of protecting coexistence and well-being with democratic and proportional criteria, but that in this specific episode "there has probably been a disproportionate use of force," which, in her opinion, makes a specific investigation necessary.
