The general secretary of the PSPV and minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, has stated that she does not consider that the "concentrations of PP and Vox" planned have as their main objective to express support for the autonomous city of Ceuta after the massive entry of migrants recorded last July. At the same time, she reiterated that the Valencian socialists will not support them nor will they be part of them.
Morant made these statements this Monday in Les Corts, where she emphasized that the PSPV has not "urged anyone" to stop attending the protests called for this Wednesday, September 2. In this context, she challenged PP and Vox to take the initiative to organize them if they really want to hold them: "If PP and Vox want to hold a concentration, then let them call the concentration," she indicated.
The socialist leader insisted that if it is about "concentrations of PP and Vox," it should be these parties who promote them and take responsibility for the consequences: "Because calling a concentration means taking responsibility for what happens at that concentration," she stressed. In addition, she warned that in this type of event, "unconstitutional and Francoist flags" usually appear and reminded that "we are so used to this type of concentrations and they have come to vandalize the headquarters of the Socialist Party."
Therefore, Morant defended that it is consistent that the PSPV will not "support or participate in concentrations of PP and Vox that, of course, I do not believe their purpose is to show solidarity with what is happening in Ceuta." Regarding the management of the crisis, she referred to the explanations provided by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in a radio interview broadcast this same Monday.
In any case, she emphasized that "what is happening in Ceuta has clearly been an invasion of Spanish territory," although she focused on the fact that at this moment "what remains there is a humanitarian crisis that must be responded to in order to then respond adequately with the law to both minors and adults."
Message to the president of the Generalitat and call for solidarity
Morant has also wanted to send "a message" to the 'president' of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca: "The Valencian Community is supportive, it is not racist like he is. And just as we welcomed Ukrainians, we will have to welcome, because that is what the law says and that is what the majority of Valencian society thinks, the children of 7, 8, 9, 10 years old who are in Ceuta, if that is the distribution criterion for the peninsula. Because a law says so, but above all a law that is above all, which is humanitarian."
In this line, he has reflected on the situation of migrant minors, recalling that "any of us could be that 8-year-old boy or girl." "It could have happened to any of us, also to Pérez Llorca, also to his daughters, it is a lottery and above all, the protection of children must come first," he concluded.
