Train circulation on the railway connection between Madrid and Galicia has been reestablished after the incident caused by a lack of tension in the catenary was resolved, a problem that kept the service interrupted for about five hours.

The failure was located in the section between Porta de Galicia station, in A Gudiña, and Puebla de Sanabria, in the province of Zamora, according to Adif, the public manager of the Spanish railway network.

During Thursday morning, high-speed trains originating from or destined for Galicia suffered delays due to this breakdown, affecting all connections between Madrid and Galicia (Santiago de Compostela, Lugo, and Vigo).

For their part, Renfe sources consulted by Europa Press indicated that the problem in the railway infrastructure affected the entire Madrid-Castilla y León-Galicia line.

To minimize the impact on users, an alternative road transport plan was implemented between A Gudiña and Puebla de Sanabria, and ticket changes and cancellations were allowed without additional cost for travelers who requested them.

Following the resolution of the breakdown and the recovery of railway traffic, Renfe has reported that trains are progressively resuming their usual schedules and frequencies.
