Airbus Atlantic and Mecanizaciones Aeronáuticas S.A. (MASA) have opened a negotiation process for the possible acquisition of the MASA Group and the companies that make up its industrial network in Spain, within a project designed to enhance its productive capabilities and competitiveness, according to a joint statement.
The possible operation would include Himec Aero, NMT Aerospace Machining, Gepro Systems, and Orisol Montajes Avanzados, with the aim of incorporating a leading Spanish supplier in the machining of complex large-sized parts for the aeronautical industry into the group.
These conversations are based on a long-standing collaborative relationship between the two companies, built on operational efficiency, mutual trust, and quality, and aim to integrate an industrial partner recognized for its trajectory and excellence in management. According to the project design, the integration would fit into Airbus Atlantic's international industrial model, already implemented in three continents and five countries.
The addition of this industrial base in Spain responds to a triple goal: strengthening global competitiveness, ensuring financial solidity, and increasing the resilience of the group's supply chain in the face of demands arising from cadence increases.
The combination of capabilities in machining and machine tool design would also allow for closer cooperation in terms of efficiency, innovation, and sustainability within the aeronautical sector.
The proposed agreement envisages an integration model that would maintain the operational and commercial autonomy of the affected companies, which would continue to act as independent subsidiaries within Airbus Atlantic, retaining their brands, management teams, assets, and client portfolio.
The definitive materialization of the project is subject to the signing of the agreement currently under negotiation between the parties, as well as obtaining the relevant regulatory authorizations and respecting the applicable social processes.
