The Marivent Palace will once again be the summer residence of the Royal Family, but this year it will do so in the midst of renovations. The works will be practically paralyzed during July and August so as not to interfere with the usual stay of the King and Queen in Mallorca.
The comprehensive renovation of the palace began in April and will not conclude until December. The summer break will delay Felipe VI and Letizia's arrival on the island by a few days. The works will stop with the arrival of the King and Queen and that the palace is undergoing a renovation that will not finish until the end of the year.
What is being renovated in Marivent
The renovation seeks to update facilities and improve the condition of the complex, owned by the Balearic Government and ceded for the use of the Royal Family during their stays in Mallorca.
The schedule is delicate because Marivent is not just a private residence. It is also an institutional and tourist symbol: every summer it concentrates official agenda, photo opportunities, audiences, and political activity linked to the presence of the Crown in the Balearic Islands.
The halt in the works allows the stay to be maintained, albeit with adjustments in dates and logistics.
