The president of the National Federation of Associations of Self-Employed Workers (ATA), Lorenzo Amor, pointed out this Tuesday that the increase in affiliation to Social Security of self-employed professionals recorded in May has been the highest in a May month in the last ten years.

In detail, the self-employed affiliate group incorporated 15,470 contributors during the fifth month of the year, which is equivalent to almost 500 new self-employed workers each day in May.

Amor also highlighted that all the autonomous communities increased their number of self-employed affiliates in May, "a traditionally positive month in terms of job creation and self-employed workers".

The head of ATA made special mention of the "historic" figure for Andalusia, which has surpassed the threshold of 600,000 self-employed workers for the first time, after adding 2,645 self-employed affiliates in May, that is, practically 90 new self-employed workers daily.

"It is a fact that seemed unattainable, but which has been achieved this May. It is the first autonomous community to reach this figure and it has more self-employed workers than unemployed people, something that was also a historic fact a few months ago," Amor highlighted.
