BBVA has communicated to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) that it has already completed 81.43% of the first tranche of 1 billion euros of its new share buyback program, whose total amount amounts to 2 billion, after the seventh week of execution.

Between September 14 and 18, the entity acquired around 4.1 million shares, paying an average price of 24.85 euros per share, which represents an approximate outlay of 102.11 million euros during that period.

With these operations, the bank chaired by Carlos Torres has accumulated the acquisition of more than 32.72 million of its own shares, at an average price of 24.89 euros per share, for which it has allocated a total of 814.27 million euros.

In this program, announced during the presentation of results for the first half, HSBC is the entity responsible for channeling the purchases in Cboe Europe, Turquoise Europe, and Aquis Exchange, while, through the broker Kepler Cheuvreux, the orders are executed in the Continuous Market.

This first tranche is expected to conclude no earlier than September 14 and no later than October 9, 2026, or, if applicable, when the maximum cash limit or the established cap of shares is reached, which stands at 483,221,729 shares.

This plan is added to the extraordinary buyback program of around 4 billion euros that the Basque entity concluded on August 3, considered the largest buyback in its history in Spain.

After closing this program of 3.96 billion, BBVA already sums six share buyback initiatives: three of an extraordinary nature (the recently concluded one, another of 3.16 billion euros between 2021 and 2022, and an additional one of 1 billion in 2023) and three linked to ordinary remuneration to its shareholders (422 million euros for 2022, 781 million for 2023, and 993 million for 2024).
