Deutsche Telekom estimates that it will be able to cut around 2.5 billion euros in indirect costs by 2030, using 2023 as a reference, thanks to the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions and automation processes. This was communicated this Monday by the German telecom, which has reiterated its forecasts and medium-term financial goals.
The company estimates that, by 2027, AI and automation will allow for a gross saving of close to 1.1 billion euros in its operations outside the United States compared to the levels of 2023. From there, the company projects that the accumulated savings figure will increase to 2.5 billion euros by 2030.
As explained, part of the additional savings obtained in 2027 will be reinvested in the business, with the aim of accelerating the group's digital transformation and boosting the deployment of its fiber optic network in the German market.
In this context, the operator contemplates an aggregate saving of between 100 and 150 million euros attributable to AI and automation in the period between 2023 and 2027.
At the same time, Deutsche Telekom expects that businesses linked to AI will generate around 250 million euros in revenue outside the United States by 2026, and has set a goal to raise that figure to around 800 million euros by 2030.
"AI is radically transforming Deutsche Telekom. It improves our networks, makes them smarter, personalizes our service, and opens new business models: from AI assistants during phone calls to a dedicated infrastructure for the European industry," declared Tim Höttges, CEO of Deutsche Telekom.
