The president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), Antonio Garamendi, has described this Friday in Murcia as "shameful" the image that Spain is projecting in the European sphere as a result of the alleged corruption cases that affect the PSOE.
During his speech at the 48th general assembly of the Murcian employers' association, Garamendi pointed out that "the image we observe every day through the media is not one that generates confidence for a country to function." In his opinion, this situation harms external credibility and the stability necessary for economic activity.
The highest official of the CEOE has defended the autonomy of the judiciary and has highlighted the role of the State Security Forces and Corps, as well as free and independent media, which he has defined as a "fundamental part" of democracy and guarantors of the rule of law.
In his speech, Garamendi also reiterated the urgency of having new General State Budgets that allow for a clear understanding of how and where public investments will be directed. He stressed that this planning is key for companies and for the economy as a whole.
Likewise, he has opted for resuming a true social dialogue instead of a "social monologue," demanding real negotiation between the Government, employers, and unions. In this context, he has called for addressing effective solutions to "hyperregulation" in the economic and labor fields, which, as he has warned, is hindering business activity and job creation.
