The Council of Ministers gave the green light this Tuesday to the appointment of Maribel Ramos Vergeles as the new president of Casa 47, succeeding Leire Iglesias, who will take over the Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda.
In this way, Ramos Vergeles takes the reins of the state housing entity in a "phase of expansion," with the goal of "consolidating public housing as a right of citizenship," as the institution states in a note released this Wednesday.
The designation of the new president "continues the growth process" of Casa 47 and promotes a model that "acts on the integral cycle" of housing, covering everything from land management and construction to property administration. The entity faces this stage with the intention of continuing to increase the permanent state stock of affordable housing and reinforcing the consideration of housing as a public service that "provides a lasting response to the needs" of the population.
Ramos Vergeles had been serving since January 2025 as the general director of the Affordable Housing Park of Casa 47, leading the deployment of what is considered "one of the main strategic lines" of the organization.
Graduated in Psychology from the University of Salamanca, Maribel Ramos specializes in Social Intervention and Gender from the Official College of Psychologists of Madrid and holds a master's degree in Public Policies and Gender Equality from the Rey Juan Carlos University. She completes her training with various specialized programs taken at the Institute of Fiscal Studies, the School of Industrial Organization, IESE Business School, and Esade.
Before joining Casa 47, she developed her career at Hogar Sí, where she was deputy general director of Innovation between 2018 and 2024, in addition to being director of the Strategic Development Unit and responsible for political advocacy strategy and relations with interest groups between 2014 and 2018.
Her first professional steps were taken as an equality technician in the General Subdirectorate of Studies and Cooperation of the Institute of Women, then dependent on the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and as a teacher and researcher at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Salamanca between 2002 and 2004.
Likewise, she has served as coordinator of the Network of Offices for Equality and Gender Violence of the Institute of Women of Extremadura, attached to the Department of Equality and Employment of the Junta de Extremadura (2009-2011), as 'project manager' at Innovation and Local Development S.L. (2005-2007), and as a consultant for public administrations, trade union organizations, and third sector entities between 2012 and 2015, among other professional duties.
