The general secretary of UGT, Pepe Álvarez, has demanded that the Government give the green light to time control in the second Council of Ministers of September. He has warned that if it is not approved on that date, the organization will consider "seriously" whether "it is worth maintaining the social dialogue tables or not."
In statements to the media before intervening in the inauguration of the Manuel Fernández López 'Lito' international summer school, organized by the union in Asturias, Álvarez has emphasized that time control is "absolutely essential." He has reminded that "social dialogue is commitments, it is agreements that must be fulfilled, they are not our positions, but the positions we have negotiated with the employers themselves."
The leader of UGT has also requested that the update of the minimum interprofessional salary (SMI) be put on the table, which currently "has a differential of 1.3 points that workers of the SMI lose as a consequence of the increase in inflation."
Furthermore, the general secretary of UGT has warned that, although Spain is a country that grows and generates "a lot of wealth," that wealth "does not go to the workers."
