The price of gasoline today, Thursday, August 27, 2026, remains stable at the doors of one of the major road trips at the end of summer. Unleaded gasoline 95 registers an average price of 1.741 euros per liter, exactly the same as this Wednesday.
Unleaded gasoline 98 also does not change, remaining at 1.921 euros per liter. The movement is found this Thursday in diesel: gas oil A goes from 1.882 to 1.880 euros per liter, while gas oil A+ drops from 1.977 to 1.974 euros per liter.
The stabilization comes after a summer of significant increases in fuel prices. Since the beginning of the summer season, gasoline has accumulated an increase of nearly 20% and diesel close to 24%, in a context marked by international energy tensions and the situation in the Middle East.

Diesel drops slightly after the summer increase
The drop this Thursday is small: two tenths of a cent per liter in diesel A. In a 50-liter tank, the difference compared to Wednesday amounts to just ten cents. In diesel A+, the daily reduction is three tenths of a cent.
The importance of the movement lies more in the change of direction than in immediate savings. Diesel has been one of the fuels that has increased the most during this summer, clearly surpassing gasoline 95.
Gasoline 95, for its part, remains this Thursday at 1.741 euros. Its price is still 41.1 cents below its historical maximum of 2.152 euros per liter, while diesel A is 22.6 cents below its record of 2.106 euros.
Taxes represent more than 77 cents in each liter of gasoline 95
The composition of the price allows us to observe how much corresponds to taxation. In each liter of gasoline 95 sold at the current average price, approximately 0.774 euros correspond to taxes, equivalent to 44.5% of the final price.
In diesel A, the calculated tax burden is 0.705 euros per liter, around 37.5% of the retail price. The difference responds, among other elements, to the different fixed taxation that both fuels bear.
The rest of the price fundamentally depends on the cost of the raw material and the margins associated with distribution and marketing. Therefore, international movements of oil and refined products can ultimately be passed on to Spanish service stations.
The price changes considerably by province
The national average price also does not reflect what each driver will necessarily find. This Thursday there are noticeable differences between provinces and service stations, so comparing prices before refueling can generate greater savings than the small daily variation of the national average.
