Chile's Consumer Price Index (CPI) ended the month of June with an interannual variation of 4.3%, which represents an increase of four tenths compared to the May figure, according to data published this Wednesday by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
In contrast, the monthly evolution of prices moderated by two tenths and remained practically unchanged. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy components due to their higher volatility, remained at 0.2%, in a context where groceries increased by 0.8%, while energy decreased by 1.1%.
By expenditure groups, monthly increases in insurance and financial services stood out, with an increase of 3.4%; as well as alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which advanced 0.9%; and food and non-alcoholic beverages and leisure and culture, both with a price increase of 0.8%.
On the other hand, the prices of clothing and footwear decreased by 6.1%. Household equipment and maintenance also fell, with a drop of 1.7%, and transportation, which retreated 1.3% in the month.
