The Spanish campsites have achieved an average occupancy close to 90% this summer in the months of July and August, in line with the forecasts that the sector had at the beginning of the campaign, according to data from the Spanish Federation of Campsites (FEEC).

The demand has been especially intense in bungalow-type accommodations, which during the two central months of summer have been practically full, consolidating as one of the favorite options for users.

As for the plots, they have reached an occupancy close to 80%, with a strong presence of users of motorhomes, caravans, campers, and tents, who have maintained a constant flow throughout the entire high season.

This positive evolution has been driven by the good pace of reservations made before the summer, which grew by 10% compared to the previous year. On this basis, the FEEC had already anticipated an average occupancy close to 90% for July and August, a forecast that has finally been fulfilled.

The president of the Spanish Federation of Campsites, Ana Beriain, believes that the results confirm the initial expectations of the sector and reflect the consolidation of camping as one of the preferred alternatives for Spaniards when organizing their vacations.

SEPTEMBER MAINTAINS EXPECTATIONS

After closing the two key months of the summer season, the sector faces September with good occupancy prospects. The FEEC emphasizes that this month is gaining weight for Spanish campsites, thanks to milder temperatures and less tourist overcrowding.

The federation also highlights the growing interest in traveling in September to nature destinations with less influx, a trend that helps extend the activity of establishments beyond the months of July and August.

For the entrepreneurs in the sector, the increase in demand during this period represents an opportunity to advance in the de-seasonalization of tourism and extend the opening calendar of the campsites.

Beriain has pointed out that September is progressively consolidating as a key month for these accommodations and sets as a goal to maintain an attractive offer during an increasingly broad stretch of the year.
