The IBEX 35 has started the session this Thursday, August 27, practically flat and above 20,000 points. At 09:37 hours, the main index of the Spanish Stock Exchange was trading at 20,068.80 points, 0.01% more, in an opening marked by contained movements.
The selective had moved until that moment between a daily maximum of 20,091.60 points and a minimum of 20,053.90. The small distance from Wednesday's close shows that the Spanish market was starting the day without a clear direction.
The reference with which today's session must be compared is the 20,067.30 points from the close on Wednesday, August 26. The IBEX ended yesterday with an increase of 0.05%, after reaching a daily maximum of 20,178.5 points and a minimum of 20,065.9.
Solaria leads the rises of the IBEX 35
Solaria was the most bullish stock of the selective at 09:37, with a revaluation of 2.06%. The renewable company thus led the gains in the early moments of the session.
The advance represents a change of sign compared to Wednesday. Solaria closed the previous day at 16.96 euros per share, after falling 0.82%. During that session, it reached 17.165 euros and marked a minimum of 16.705 euros.
Behind Solaria, the next largest rises at 09:37 corresponded to Unicaja, with 0.62%, and ACS, with 0.58%. The composition of the ranking had changed, therefore, compared to the first minutes of trading, a common circumstance in a stock market session.
ACS rises while Indra loses positions compared to the first minutes
ACS was up 0.58% at 09:37 and was among the three stocks with the best performance of the IBEX 35. The group had closed on Wednesday at 104.10 euros per share, with a decrease of 0.19%.
The situation of Indra precisely shows why it is essential to accompany stock prices with a specific hour. The stock had stood out among the rises in the early moments of the day, but the ranking had changed as trading progressed.
Indra started this Thursday from a previous close of 60.40 euros, after losing 0.76% during Wednesday's session. The stock had then moved between a maximum of 61.20 euros and a minimum of 59.92.
Cellnex, Aena, and Repsol, among the largest falls
On the opposite side of the market, Cellnex led the losses at 09:37 with a drop of 1.61%. Following were Aena, which fell 1.52%, and Repsol, with a decline of 1.04%.
The contrast between the gains of Solaria and the losses of these stocks explains the stability of the index during the beginning of the session. The ups and downs practically balanced each other and kept the IBEX very close to the level at which it had finished the previous day.
The situation also confirms that the 20,000 points continue to be the main immediate reference of the Spanish selective index. The IBEX maintains them both at the close on Wednesday and during the beginning of trading this Thursday.
The IBEX has just closed on Wednesday with a rise of 0.05%
The previous session ended with the IBEX 35 at 20,067.30 points, 0.05% above the previous close. During Wednesday, the index reached 20,178.5 points, although it lost a good part of the advance before the close.
Among the biggest rises on Wednesday were Acerinox (+3.19%), ArcelorMittal (+2.93%) and Puig (+1.73%). Conversely, Telefónica ended with a drop of 2.04%, while Acciona lost 1.41%.
The market was also attentive to the evolution of oil and the results of Nvidia. Brent was around 88 dollars per barrel yesterday, after the decline experienced in recent days.
The annual high of the IBEX 35 remains at 20,356 points
Despite the stability of this opening, the IBEX continues close to its annual high. The index reached 20,356.50 points on August 13, which remains its highest level of the year.
The quotation of 20,068.80 points recorded at 09:37 leaves the selective approximately 1.4% below that maximum, after having managed to maintain the barrier of 20,000 points during the last sessions.
The snapshot of the market at the opening of this Thursday is, therefore, one of stability in the IBEX 35, but with significant differences between companies. Solaria clearly led the gains, while Cellnex and Aena concentrated the largest losses in the early stages of trading.
