The president of the Junta and PP-A candidate for re-election, Juanma Moreno, has warned this Wednesday that the "majority for stability" is not "achieved" at the moment, for which reason he has called on citizens, especially those who still doubt, to go to the polls on May 17 to preserve "security" and "certainty". "Let's not play with fire, because we can get burned," Moreno remarked, alluding to a possible scenario in which the PP would have to depend on Vox, as has already happened in other communities.
Juanma Moreno has expressed himself this way during a campaign event in the final stretch, held at the Casa de Iberoamérica in Cádiz. The rally also included the participation of the head of the list for Cádiz and Minister of Health, Presidency and Emergencies, Antonio Sanz, and the mayor of the city, Bruno García.
He underlined that, although the PSOE-A candidate for the Junta, María Jesús Montero, "is wrong three times out of the three times she speaks", one should not "underestimate our adversaries", insisting that there is no room for relaxation because there is an "excess of confidence" and the majority of "stability" has not been "achieved".
"Let's fill the ballot boxes with votes, let no one stay on the beach, let no one stay at the dessert table, let no one think this is won, because nothing is won," emphasized Juanma Moreno, who recalled that he personally experienced what it means to govern without a majority of "stability" after the 2018 elections, and that key decisions on budgets or laws could be left in the hands of "someone in an office in Madrid who is not Andalusian nor knows Andalusia," in reference to the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal.
"Are we going to risk our future on the capricious decision of a single leader?", questioned the leader of PP-A, who appealed to achieve that majority of stability on May 17 to avoid being subjected to the "blackmail" of anyone.
According to what he has defended, "Andalusia needs freedom, autonomy and needs us to have our hands free to decide and plan ourselves; let's not play with fire because we can get burned", reiterating that the "majority is not reached", as reflected, he said, by the daily tracking of the party's internal polls.
He has claimed not to put the future of Andalusia at risk for a "handful of votes" and has asked, especially those who are undecided, to place their trust in the PP-A.
"Let's not go to instability, insecurity, and uncertainty, as there are already enough uncertainties in the world for Andalusia to also be governed by uncertainty," stated Juanma Moreno.
He has criticized that there are candidates who only "work the 15 days of the campaign, promise everything, do everything and present their best profile". Faced with this, he has defended his way of understanding politics: "I am one of those who believe that campaigns, if they have to exist, begin exactly the day after the elections; campaigns are four years of management, of commitment, of dedication, four years of dedication to that great objective we have of improving Andalusia".
Moreno has stressed that on May 17th "we have to examine ourselves before all Andalusians and decide if we want to maintain the course and continue this path" which, in his opinion, "is working or take another one". He has made it clear that he rejects "opening paths of instability" that "lead to nothing good".
In his speech, Juanma Moreno also railed against the central government, stating that he cannot understand how the government of Pedro Sánchez, which is the one that "has collected the most" in the history of Spain because "it has crushed us with taxes," and which has managed more European funds than any other, has been "incapable of carrying out some of the major construction and infrastructure projects that we need in Andalusia." "The question I ask myself is where is that money and what have they done with the hundreds of billions of euros that we have all collectively contributed for society to advance," he posed.
He has defended the tax cut policy that his government has promoted in the last legislature and has guaranteed that, if he continues at the head of the Board, the tax cuts will continue.
Moreno has maintained that, to be a good manager and a good politician, "you have to be a good person" and it is essential to have principles, foundation, and values. He has affirmed that he feels "proud to represent a government that has principles, values, and that wants to do well".
For his part, Antonio Sanz has championed the PP's "positive" campaign, based on conveying "solvency, solidity, serenity, security, and stability," in contrast to the opposition parties' strategy, which, he said, has opted for "mud-slinging, fighting, confrontation, and bickering." Likewise, he has branded as "lamentable" the words of the PSOE-A candidate for the Junta, María Jesús Montero, for describing the death of two civil guards in Huelva during the pursuit of a drug-trafficking boat as a "workplace accident." "It is a lack of respect for the Civil Guard," he stated.
Sanz has expressed his conviction that on May 17th Andalusia will opt for "stability," for "management," and for the approval of annual budgets, as well as for "moderation" and "certainty," which, as he has emphasized, Juanma Moreno's project embodies.
