The Parliament, with the majority that PP and Vox form, has called on the central Government to suspend the obligation to use the V16 beacon until "independent and conclusive" technical and forensic studies are available that support its true effectiveness in road safety.

This demand is part of a non-binding proposal (PNL) defended by Vox deputy María José Verdú in the Commission for Territorial Planning, Housing, Mobility, Sea and Water Cycle held this Wednesday.

The proposal, rejected by the left-wing groups, also urges the Executive to ensure that no road safety measure obliges or pushes drivers to remain inside their vehicles, and to put an end to the promotion of regulations that "impose unnecessary costs" and whose purpose they consider "purely extractive".

Similarly, the initiative opens the door to articulating aid aimed at "Spanish" families and companies to reinforce road safety through the renewal of the vehicle fleet, while guaranteeing the "free coexistence" between combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles "without ideological impositions".

Dredging in the ports of the Balearic Islands

In the same session, the parliamentary commission addressed another PNL, also approved with the support of PP and Vox, presented by the 'popular' deputy Sebastià Mesquida and focused on the dredging of the port areas of the Balearic Islands.

In this regard, the regional Chamber has requested the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge to enable authorized dumping areas, one for each island of the archipelago, located within the public maritime-terrestrial domain.

Likewise, the Parliament has asked to expedite pending authorizations related to dredging work and to collaborate with the Government to carry out these actions in an "agile and periodic" manner.
