The plenary session of the Balearic Parliament has called on the councils of Mallorca and Menorca this Tuesday to urgently promote the limitation of vehicle access to both islands, a measure that is already in force in Eivissa and Formentera. The initiative was approved with the sole rejection of the Vox deputies.
The proposal is part of a motion defended by socialist deputy Ares Fernández during the plenary session, in which he presented more than twenty requests, the majority of which received the support of the Chamber.
Among the most relevant points is the one related to the control of car entry, in a context where next Friday the Consell de Mallorca plans to approve the specific law and send it to the Parliament so that its processing can begin.
After accepting an amendment presented by MÉS per Mallorca, the motion urges the Consell de Mallorca to send the bill to the regional Chamber "with sufficient time for it to be approved in this legislature."
In parallel, the Consell de Menorca is called upon to develop the biosphere reserve law with the aim of ensuring that this vehicle limitation can also be applied to the island.
The non-legislative initiative also incorporates various amendments, both additions and modifications, registered by the eco-sovereignists and the 'popular' party.
