The pro-Russian authorities in Crimea have reported that the city of Sevastopol was left in darkness during the night of this Sunday, after what they describe as Ukrainian attacks targeting several energy infrastructures located in the vicinity of the city.
The Russian governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozaev, has stated that "As a consequence of an enemy attack against energy infrastructures on the outskirts of Sevastopol, our city is temporarily without electricity supply," recalling that the area has remained under Russian control since 2014.
Following the incident, the authorities have implemented a "special regime" in the affected electrical facilities, while essential services are operating connected to backup power sources to maintain their basic functioning.
In this context, Razvozaev has asked the population to limit the use of their mobile devices as much as possible, recommending saving battery on phones, using devices "only for emergency communications," disabling background applications, and reducing screen brightness to extend battery life.
The head of the local administration has also appealed for prudence when resuming domestic electricity consumption and has stressed: "Do not overload the electrical grid. When the power returns, do not turn on all the appliances at once," with the aim of avoiding new incidents in the supply.
