The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced this Tuesday a series of attacks against U.S. positions in the region, in retaliation for the recent bombings carried out by the U.S. Army in various areas of the country, mainly in areas near the Strait of Hormuz.
"The brave fighters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard have given a strong response to the aggressors and, in their first action, shot down the 50th advanced MQ-9 drone of the invading U.S. Army, equipped with the new aerospace defense system," the institution stated in a communiqué.
Tehran frames these attacks as a response to the "blind" and "desperate" operations of U.S. forces against several points on the southern Iranian coast, "including several civilian areas," actions that, according to the Revolutionary Guard, have "strengthened the determination" of the Persian country "to crush foreign forces" in the Strait of Hormuz.
Missile attack against a base in Jordan
Subsequently, the Revolutionary Guard indicated in another note that its units have launched ballistic missiles against the U.S. naval base of Titin, located in southern Jordan, near the border with Saudi Arabia and close to the port of Aqaba.
According to this communiqué, the offensive occurred after the attack on a residential building in Sirik, where at least four people are reported to have lost their lives and another 50 are reported to have been injured during a wedding, an event that, in the opinion of the Revolutionary Guard, evokes "the barbarism of the Minab school and the Lamerd stadium."
The Iranian elite force also claims that in the operation they managed to neutralize "a large number of U.S. forces," in addition to causing the destruction of several key infrastructures and helicopters. Washington, for the moment, has not provided data confirming casualties among its personnel deployed in the area.
Before these events, the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces had warned that it would impose "a high price on the U.S. enemy" after explosions were recorded in the port city of Bandar Abbas, on Qeshm Island, at Jiroft airport, in Kerman province, and in other enclaves of Hormozgan province.
Similar detonations have also occurred in the towns of Chabahar and Konarak, in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan, where, according to the Iranian state agency Mehr, at least four projectiles would have impacted.
Kuwait and Bahrain raise alert
Following Tehran's announcement of this new wave of attacks against U.S. interests in the region, the authorities of Kuwait have communicated that they are responding to "hostile missile and drone threats" and have asked the population to follow the security guidelines issued by the competent authorities.
"Kuwait's air defenses are currently responding to hostile missile and drone threats. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kuwait confirms that any explosion that may be heard is a consequence of the interception of hostile targets by the air defense systems," the Kuwaiti military spokesperson has stated in a message disseminated on social media.
In parallel, the Ministry of Interior of Bahrain has warned of a "potential threat" and has urged citizens and residents to remain calm, go to the nearest safe place, and only follow the information provided through official channels.
The National Communication Center of the Bahraini government has indicated, for its part, that Iranian drones have been intercepted and destroyed, while the country's air defense systems remain on high alert to ensure the protection of the territory, according to the Bahrain News Agency.
