Iran has claimed this Wednesday two new attacks against targets linked to the United States in the Middle East. The Iranian Army claims to have launched a drone bombing against a U.S. military garrison located west of Kuwait and another operation against an Amazon facility in Bahrain that, according to Tehran, plays a strategic role in technological support for the U.S. Armed Forces.
In a statement released by the Iranian agency Tasnim, close to the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian Armed Forces present both actions as a response to the recent attacks suffered by their territory. So far, U.S. authorities have not confirmed these bombings nor have they reported any possible damages or casualties.
Iran places the main target on a military base in Kuwait
According to the version offered by the Iranian Army, the first attack targeted the Doha garrison, a military installation located in the west of Kuwait that Tehran describes as one of the main logistical and support centers for U.S. forces in the region.
Iranian authorities maintain that at this base are deployed elements of the Army, Navy, and Air Force of the United States, in addition to infrastructures intended for ammunition storage and command operations. These claims have not been independently corroborated.
New attack against an Amazon infrastructure in Bahrain
Hours later, the Iranian Army announced a second operation directed against an Amazon facility in Bahrain. Tehran claims that this data center constitutes an essential node for information exchange with the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and is part of the technological infrastructure used by the Pentagon.
In their statement, the Iranian Armed Forces remind that Amazon participates in the U.S. program Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC), a contract from the Department of Defense aimed at developing cloud computing services, data analysis, and artificial intelligence for military applications. However, they do not provide evidence that proves the attacked facility performs the functions they attribute to it.
Second attack in less than a day
The claim comes less than 24 hours after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced another attack against that same infrastructure in Bahrain, which it claimed to have destroyed through the launch of cruise missiles.
In addition, during the night of Tuesday, the Revolutionary Guard stated that it had attacked several U.S. radar systems in Kuwait, including an early warning radar, facilities located around the Ali al Salem airbase, and another system located on Bubiyan Island. These actions would be part of Iran's strategy to try to weaken the surveillance and air defense capabilities of the United States in the Middle East, according to the version disseminated by Tehran.
