The Iranian authorities carried out on Wednesday the execution of two brothers accused of being part of a "mafia" dedicated to committing armed robberies in various provinces of the country, after concluding the judicial process and the Supreme Court confirmed their death sentences.
According to the public television network IRIB, the executed, Hamid and Said Nayafi, participated in "dozens of armed robberies" and in assaults against members of the security forces and against hospitals.
The two brothers were considered the main members of this "mafia," which operated in Tehran and in other areas of Iran, including Qom, Isfahan, and Mashhad. The capital sentences were carried out by hanging in a prison early in the day.
