The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, insisted this Friday that the economic war announced by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, is doomed to failure. The head of Iranian diplomacy recalled that previous occupants of the White House, such as Barack Obama, also resorted to pressure and economic suffocation measures that, in his view, also did not achieve their objectives.
"We have seen this movie before. The same nonsense. Different bullies," stated the head of Iranian diplomacy in a message disseminated on social media, referring to statements by Obama and his then Vice President, Joe Biden.
"14 years ago: 'The most devastating sanctions in history.' Failure; 8 years ago: 'Maximum pressure.' Failure; 5 months ago: 'Unconditional surrender.' Failure; Today: 'The most crushing economic operation in history.' Doomed to failure," emphasized the Iranian Foreign Minister.
Araqchi has downplayed the announcement of "economic war" from Washington against Tehran, arguing that this new phase proclaimed by Trump responds to a "unprecedented" crisis within the United States and that it "will only bring more defeats" for the U.S. Administration.
Military warning against any "miscalculation"
That same Friday, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Ali Abdulahi, in a message sent to the acting Minister of Defense, Mayid Ibn al Reza, emphasized that the Armed Forces of Iran "will confront any miscalculation and any threat with revolutionary, crushing, lamentable, and devastating responses."
In this line, he highlighted that the military production capacity of the Islamic Republic in recent years "constitutes an industrial revolution of deterrent defense."
