The Israeli Army has communicated that it has killed three commanders of the Hamas militias in the Gaza Strip, including a senior official of its "naval force," during an airstrike carried out on Friday in the central area of the enclave.
The "naval commander" has been identified as Mansur Shahtout, "eliminated while on the move" along with the other two commanders in a vehicle that was hit by a projectile fired by Israeli forces.
In the last few hours, the military authorities of Israel have also made public the death of another prominent Hamas leader, Abdelrramán Maher Abdelkarim Ziyada, whom they identify as allegedly involved in the incursion of Palestinian militias into Israel on October 7, 2023, considered the direct trigger of the current war in Gaza.
In a separate attack, Kamal Mohamed Hamdan Nayar has also lost his life, described by the Israeli Army as responsible for the Tunnel Unit in the Jan Yunis sector, in the south of the Strip, belonging to the armed wing of Hamas.
The Israeli Armed Forces have added that last Thursday Walid Haniye, nephew of the former Palestinian Prime Minister and Hamas leader Ismail Haniye, was killed. Walid Haniye was, according to Israel, commander of a platoon of the Nukba Force, Hamas's special forces, during the assault on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, and at the time of the attack that killed him, he held the position of 'number two' in said unit.
For its part, the Ministry of Health of the Gazan government, controlled by Hamas, has indicated this Sunday that the death toll has now risen to 1,041 dead and 3,372 injured since the last ceasefire came into effect on October 11, 2025, after registering three deaths and 43 additional injuries in the last 24 hours.
In total, since the beginning of the escalation on October 7, 2023, Gaza health authorities estimate 73,045 deaths and 173,480 injuries due to Israeli attacks on the Palestinian enclave.
