NATO heads of State and Government have reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with 70 billion euros in military equipment, assistance, and training programs from now until 2026, and to maintain the same volume of support in 2027, according to the joint declaration released at the end of the Alliance's summit.

"By 2026, Allies commit to providing 70 billion euros in military equipment, assistance, and training for Ukraine, and affirm their sovereign commitments to maintain at least equivalent levels in 2027," reads the communiqué approved by consensus of the 32 member States.

Within this global amount, the 30 billion euros that the European Union has made available to Kyiv through a loan for defense spending are accounted for, a contribution that NATO expressly acknowledges. The remaining 40 billion will come from additional bilateral support to Ukraine, a scheme in which the United States will not participate.

"Ukraine contributes to transatlantic security, and Allies remain united in their unwavering support for Ukraine and in the defense of its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity," declared the 32 heads of State and Government.

European Allies and Canada note that they currently bear the brunt of security assistance to Ukraine through various bilateral instruments and multilateral frameworks, and underscore their intention for this support to be "equitable, predictable, and sustainable in the long term."
