The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, will hold a bilateral meeting with the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, during the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will take place on Monday in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the Russian presidential advisor, Yuri Ushakov, and reported by the state agency TASS, "Current issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as the most important international matters, will be addressed."
Among the main issues on the table is the large pipeline project aimed at sending natural gas from the fields of western Siberia to the Chinese market, crossing Mongolian territory.
Ushakov added that "They will continue to communicate personally in the coming months," emphasizing that both leaders will meet again during the next BRICS summit, scheduled for mid-September in New Delhi, the capital of India, as well as at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, which will be held in November in the Chinese city of Shenzhen.
