The authorities of Senegal and Mauritania have communicated in the last hours the interception of more than 750 migrants who were trying to reach the Canary Islands by the Atlantic route.
The Senegalese Navy has indicated this Sunday that on Saturday it located a vessel with 210 people on board, several of them in very delicate health condition. In addition, another 246 migrants were assisted in the vicinity of the Senegalese coast.
At the same time, the Coast Guard of Mauritania has indicated that on Wednesday it rescued 315 people who were traveling in a wooden boat that had left Gambia, in which several minors were also present.
Senegal and Mauritania have consolidated as usual departure points for those trying to reach the Canary Islands, facing a risky journey of about 1,500 kilometers from the Senegalese coast.
