The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has communicated this Friday the implementation of a three-day ceasefire, on May 9, 10, and 11, coinciding with the commemoration of Victory Day, after the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, have given their approval to the initiative.

In a message disseminated through his social networks, Trump has specified that "This ceasefire will include the suspension of all military activity and an exchange of 1,000 prisoners from each country. I made this request directly and I greatly appreciate its acceptance by President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelensky".

The Republican leader has also expressed his hope that this armed pause will be the "beginning of the end of a very long, bloody, and hard-fought war." As he added, "Talks continue to end this great conflict, the largest since World War II, and every day we are closer to achieving it," concluding his message.
