The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Wednesday that the most recent bombing carried out by the U.S. Armed Forces against Iran has been "hard" and that it has destroyed new Iranian military equipment. Although he has threatened with more armed actions, he has predicted that Washington's offensive will not last long.
"Last night we dealt them a hard blow. We destroyed all the new equipment they were trying to install along the Strait of Hormuz," the U.S. leader affirmed in statements from the White House about the latest exchange of attacks with the Islamic Republic.
The president emphasized that the operation was particularly forceful and that the United States maintains the initiative in the strategic area of the Strait of Hormuz.
"It was a very intense attack last night, and we are prepared to launch another whenever we want," he added, noting that Washington has left Iran without radars and stressing that it maintains "control" over the strategic passage of Hormuz.
Before the media, Trump reiterated that his priority is to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon "as soon as this is over," referring to the conflict with Iran, and hinted that he does not expect the military campaign to last too long.
"Which I don't think will take much longer. I don't know how much longer they can hold out, but, whatever it is, it doesn't matter," he added about the timeline he has for his offensive in Iran.
The president also wanted to disconnect his military decisions from the midterm election scheduled for November, when the Capitol will be renewed, and has ruled out that these elections will condition his strategy towards Iran.
In any case, the head of the White House has rejected that the midterm elections --known as 'midterms' and scheduled for November, when the U.S. Capitol will be renewed-- affect his calculations in Iran.
"The election does not affect me. First of all, I am not running, but my party is, and I am going to help my party. But I believe that my party respects the fact that we do not allow it," he said about Tehran's nuclear ambitions, when the war exceeds six months.
