The United States Army Central Command (CENTCOM) has underlined this Wednesday that more than twenty US Navy warships are currently operating in Middle Eastern waters, coinciding with a surge in tension with Iran after recent reciprocal military attacks and mutual accusations of violating the ceasefire agreement.

"Currently, more than 20 United States Navy warships are patrolling the waters of the Middle East, while CENTCOM forces continue to promote security and stability in the region," the North American Army indicated in a social media message.

With this statement, the United States Armed Forces reaffirm their deployment in the area, where these warships remain as a deterrent and which Washington does not intend to withdraw until the signing of a definitive agreement with Iran, in a context where talks are in a fragile situation due to the latest attacks by both sides.

"Last month, United States Navy warships and aircraft transited the Arabian Sea in close formation, showcasing unmatched American military strength and firepower," CENTCOM added in its message.

The situation surrounding Iran has further deteriorated this Tuesday after the attack on the Qatari ship 'Al Rekayyat' as it was sailing near the Strait of Hormuz, an incident that has also increased friction with Qatar, until now one of the main mediators between the parties. Doha has denounced an "unacceptable attack on the security of international maritime navigation, the security of global energy supply, and a grave and manifest violation of International Law."
