The xeral secretary of the PSdeG, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, warned upon arriving at the PSOE federal committee that the central Executive faces an "unprecedented campaign driven by the right" and appealed "not to be naive" in the face of "political desgaste operations" directed against the Government.

In an audio sent to the media before the start of the meeting at the Ferraz headquarters, in Madrid, he stressed that "there is no possible equidistance. There are those who have spent years trying to achieve outside the ballot box what they did not achieve within them," alluding to conservative formations. The socialist leader heads the Galician delegation displaced to the meeting, made up of around twenty PSdeG officials.

Besteiro has pointed out three specific goals for this internal day: to reinforce the party's structure, to face the next electoral cycle, and to move forward with a new Federal Transparency Regulation. He has framed these objectives in a context in which, in his opinion, the offensive of the right "has crossed all the lines that should never be crossed in a democracy."

The Galician leader also alluded to his own personal trajectory to emphasize that he "knows well" what it means to have to face accusations that "end up coming to nothing." In this vein, he has focused on the Galician community as a reflection of what, he maintains, is happening now in the country as a whole: "In Feijóo's land, we know very well what we are talking about. Many of those political and media desgaste strategies that we see today in the entire State we already suffered much earlier."

Faced with these dynamics, Besteiro has claimed the eight years of progressive executives as "the best endorsement" of the PSOE, considering that they have meant "more employment, more rights, more social protection, and better coexistence." "That is what we are going to defend," he reiterated, presenting this balance sheet as the party's main calling card to the citizens.
