The President of the Senate, Pedro Rollán, will undertake an official trip this week to Costa Rica and El Salvador at the head of a delegation from the Upper House. The visit will last until July 7 and includes a meeting with the Costa Rican president, Laura Fernández Delgado, as well as various institutional and parliamentary meetings in both countries.
This trip is part of the preparatory work for the XII Ibero-American Parliamentary Forum, which will take place on October 1 and 2 in Madrid, under the presidency and organization of the Cortes Generales, as a prelude to the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government scheduled for November.
With this trip, the President of the Senate continues the round of institutional contacts promoted for the forum, following visits already made to Uruguay, Argentina, Panama, Paraguay, and Chile.
The delegation accompanying Rollán is composed of the first vice-president of the Senate, Javier Maroto; the second vice-president, Concepción Andreu; the first secretary, Eva Ortiz; the third secretary, María de los Ángeles Luna; the fourth secretary, Francisco Manuel Fajardo; the president of the Commission for Ibero-American Affairs, Juan José Matarí, and the Secretary-General of the Chamber, Sara Sieira.
Agenda in Costa Rica
The official agenda will begin this Wednesday in San José, the capital of Costa Rica, with a meeting with the Spanish Ambassador to the country, Juan Ignacio Morro.
On Thursday, the delegation will be received by the President of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica, Yara Jiménez, and will also hold a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Manuel Tovar. Subsequently, the representatives of the Upper House will meet with members of the Council of Spanish Residents and, in the afternoon, Rollán will address the Costa Rican Legislative Plenary.
The stay in Costa Rica will continue on Friday with a meeting with the President of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, Eugenia Zamora, and a meeting at the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The day will conclude with the meeting between the President of the Senate and the President of the Republic of Costa Rica, Laura Fernández Delgado, at the Presidential House.
Visit to El Salvador
On Sunday, the Spanish delegation will travel to El Salvador, where they will hold a meeting with the Spanish Ambassador, Sonia Álvarez, and the Minister Counselor of the Embassy, Alfonso Pérez-Hernández.
On Monday, Rollán and the rest of the delegation members will be received by the president of the Salvadoran Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro. In addition, they will participate in a meeting with representatives of Spanish companies organized by the Embassy and will attend a reception with members of the Spanish community residing in the country.
The institutional visit will conclude on Tuesday with an event alongside students from the Padre Arrupe Spanish School and a visit to the Museum of the Martyrs of the José Simeón Cañas Central American University, where the Senate delegation will lay a floral offering.
