The Secretary of State for Health, Javier Padilla, has confirmed that he will not repeat on the lists of Más Madrid for the next regional elections.
He announced this after the candidacy for the party's primaries, led by Mónica García, was made public, and after several users asked him why he was not among the included names. "Indeed, I am not there because I am not going to repeat," Padilla explained in a message published on social media.
A parliamentary stage that ended in 2023
Padilla pointed out that his stage as a parliamentarian ended in 2023, when he began his responsibility as Secretary of State for Health.
Ayer se hizo pública la lista de las primarias de @MasMadrid__ liderada por @Monica_Garcia_G para las próximas elecciones autonómicas, y alguna persona se ha percatado de que no estoy ahí y me ha preguntado por qué.

The Más Madrid leader was a regional deputy between 2021 and 2023, a period he says he enjoyed "a lot," but which he considers closed. As he explained, he does not see the need to reopen that political phase and believes that he can now continue contributing to the project from other spaces.
"It's not necessary"
The first reason Padilla gave for not repeating is that, in his opinion, Más Madrid has enough prepared profiles to occupy that space.
The Secretary of State defended that he is a member of an organization with "an enormous variety of brilliant and competent people."
In the health field, which he defined as "his thing," he directly pointed to Mónica García, Marta Carmona, and Alda Recas as the people who can best defend that agenda.
Support for Mónica García and Rita Maestre
Although he will not be on the regional list, Padilla made it clear that he will continue working to promote Más Madrid in the next electoral cycle.
He expressly mentioned Mónica García and Rita Maestre, whom he will support to try to achieve a city and a region governed by forces that place public services and social rights at the center of their policies.
The leader also criticized the current Madrid government, referring to them as "the commercial delegates of Quirón."
He will remain at the Ministry of Health
Padilla has emphasized that he will remain focused on his work at the Ministry of Health, where, in his words, there is still "an intense year of work" left during this legislature.
The Secretary of State has insisted that his commitment to the right to health and public healthcare will continue "wherever he is."
Más Madrid prepares its candidacy
Padilla's decision comes after the publication of Más Madrid's primary list for the upcoming regional elections.
The candidacy will be headed by Mónica García, current Minister of Health and one of the main political figures of the party in the Community of Madrid.
Padilla's absence had raised doubts among some supporters, who were expecting his possible return to the Assembly of Madrid.
"No one is indispensable and no one is superfluous"
In his message, Padilla has argued that Más Madrid is an organization where "no one is indispensable" but "no one is superfluous."
With that idea, he has presented his departure from the lists not as a distancing from the project, but as a way to make space for other profiles and continue contributing from another place.
The leader thus closes the door to returning to the Madrid Parliament, but maintains his political commitment to Más Madrid and to the defense of public healthcare.
