The president of the European Socialist Party (PES) and former Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven, has appealed for the unity of progressive forces on an international scale to confront the advance of authoritarianism, concluding his message with the historic slogan "They shall not pass".
During his speech this Saturday at the Global Progressive Mobilisation (GPM), held at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, he underlined the "existential struggle of societies" in defense of democracy.
"The challenges are immense, but so is our determination," stated Löfven, who encouraged progressives worldwide to keep dreaming, maintain hope, and fight for what they believe is right, remaining united as true internationalists.
