The president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has published a video on his social networks on the occasion of the official day of Ceuta, in which he congratulates the autonomous city and thanks its inhabitants for the "serenity" and "responsibility" demonstrated during the recent crisis triggered by the massive entry of more than 70,000 migrants on the 30th and 31st of July. In his speech, he commits to making all state resources available to Ceuta to "recover full normality" in the city.
In the message, in which he avoids explicitly referring to Morocco or the massive entry of migrants, and only refers to "what happened on the 30th and 31st of July," Sánchez acknowledges that the people of Ceuta are facing "especially difficult circumstances" and that this "very complex crisis" has maximized the state's response capacity. "Until normality is recovered, the state's response is insufficient," admits the head of the Executive.
The president emphasizes that the Government is activating all the instruments at its disposal so that Ceuta returns as soon as possible to that full normality and specifically cites the 309 million euros approved by the Council of Ministers with the aim of supporting the companies and businesses based in the autonomous city.
The Government's priority in Ceuta
Sánchez details that the main concern of the Executive is "to get people off the streets as soon as possible, guarantee dignified attention to those who have arrived, and return to the people of Ceuta the tranquility they deserve."
"On a day like today, I want to thank the people of Ceuta for the serenity, solidarity, coexistence, and responsibility you have demonstrated during these very difficult weeks. I am sure that next year we will celebrate with a stronger, more prosperous, and better-prepared Ceuta for the future," concludes the president in his message.
